Ladies Please

A few months ago, this playlist was started.  Realizing, the prior playlist were mostly male dominated, I wanted to give the ladies the recognition they deserve.  This was a difficult task, since so many great women singers today are making an impact.

But that's not what took me so long to finish the playlist, turns out Jeannie and I have been a little busy down here in FL figuring out what we want to be when we grow up.  Haven't figured it all out yet, but having fun trying!

You may recognize many of the artist, but one of my goals was to make you take a look at the app to find out who the hell was blasting out that fine tune.  Let me know if met my goal.

Enjoy the music!

WTF - Country?

Show of hands... who likes Country?

Yea, I didn't raise mine ether.  So let's explore!

So an idea came to me last year to start exploring music that wasn't in my wheelhouse.  Or like most country, music I really don't like.  This is the first of the "WTF playlist".  If there's a music genre you don't listen to, don't care about, don't like, but have this weird desire to find out more, let me know what your WTF pick would be.

I'll start out with a confession.  Putting this playlist together was more fun than I thought.  Once you get past the twang there's some pretty clever tunes in country music land.

There was no plan for putting this together.  Just started (over a month ago) with a few folks I knew, then listened until my country music tolerance was pegged.  After cleansing the audio pallet with tunes from bands like Soundgarden (RIP Chris), I was able to dive back into country to pick out a few more tunes.

Let me know if there's anything in there you thought was worth the listen.

Enjoy the music.

Warning... Rap music isn't the only place "Explicit" music lives.  There's a couple songs on this playlist using colorful language.

42389

First things first... shout out to someone special.

Today I'm blessed with spending 28 years of marriage with Jeannie.  As with any lasting relationship, we have seen our share of fun and frustration.  With out a doubt, I am a much better person since being with her.  Jeannie is caring, compassionate, determined, challenging, independent and a hell of a lot of fun. Many times throughout our marriage, I've realized how much richer and fuller life is with her by my side.  Excited to see where the rest of our journey will take us.

Now, on with the music...

Making a playlist was started in an attempt to help my sisters get to know some of the great music artist of today are making.  I've gotten somewhat away from the initial concept, but WTF, it's my playlist:).  Alright, here's an attempt to get back on track with introducing new music to all.

So what does XX, Spoon, Cold War, Coldplay, Lorde, Portugal, Chainsmokers, Jason, Lana, Father John, Rag'n'Bone, Ryan, & Kendrick have in common?  They all released pretty decent music this year.

Jamie 'xx' Smith and his high school friends are still going strong.  I'm sure there are many like me that will forever judge any new work by The XX against there first release.  This new one is good, but still not at the level of the original!

On the flip side, Spoon just keep getting better with every new effort.  The latest one released last month is a lot of fun.  Give a listen to the full album and let me know what you think.

Cold War Kids is another band really making a best effort this year.  Nathan has changed his singing style ever so slightly on this album and the results are right up there with "Robbers and Cowards" (first and favorite album).

Coldplay, Lorde, Lana Del Rey, and Portugal the Man all decided to just give us a little teaser so far this year.  No album yet, but a few releases worth giving a listen.  Coldplay even did a little number on Chainsmokers new release.  Lord Lorde, just makes me want to listen.

Portugal the Man have been working on a new album since 2013, but recently started fresh with a new effort called "Woodstock".  They must have put a single release out to show the record label something's getting done.  Expect more from them real soon.

I swear Father John Misty has an Elton John sound.  If you're in that "I don't believe in anything" mood, Father John's newest is for you!

After checking out Kendrick's newest release, you got to wonder if he too is questioning his beliefs.  His latest is a bit darker than previous works.  Don't worry all you non-hip hop/rapper fans, there isn't any of Kendrick's music on the playlist.  I figured if you're a fan, you've already listened to the release.  If you want a good summary of album, check out Needle Drops Youtube review.  Pretty interesting.  Thanks Peyton for sending me the link!

Music of Youth

No... most of you will not like this music list.  It's the music of my youth.  Yes, it's the old rock and roll of the 70's.  This week, I'm heading to the panhandle of FL to hang out with the person I discovered most of this music with while heading to the lake, spinning records in our rooms, & listening to 99.5 KISS radio.  This playlist is for Scott and anyone else that wants to join in the journey of long ago.

Elaine's Music

Didn't know memory lane would go this far back.  Surprisingly the cobwebs cleared away (thanks to a little help from my sisters) just enough to put together a new playlist.  Or should I say, a really old playlist.

The love of music comes mainly from my mom.  Listening to Johnny Cash, Charlie Pride, Willie Nelson, Patsy Cline, and so many others growing up was a real treat.  So here's to you mom!  Enjoy the music.  The first playlist is of original songs from the 50's, 60's, & 70's.  And then for a little fun, the second playlist is of the same songs remade by new artist.
